Previous experience in not required but useful.

The Cordillera Blanca, the highest tropical mountain chain in the world, is one of South America’s most impressive ranges and has become one of the world's mountaineering Mecca. Fifty summits soar between 4,800 and 6,662m (15,744-21,851 ft.) high, as well as 269 lakes and 41 rivers among its spectacular roster of natural blessings. Nearly the entire range forms part of the protected Parque Nacional Huascarán.
Within the park is Huaraz town, base for our 5-day trek through Llanganuco and Santa Cruz gorges, considered one of the top five treks in the world by several international outdoor-oriented magazines. It takes in extraordinary mountain scenery of snowcapped peaks, brilliant turquoise lakes, glacier-fed rivers, sparkling waterfalls, and serene meadows. The 62km (38-mile) trail ranges from 2,900 to 4,750m (9,512-15,580 ft.) in altitude but is rated moderate to difficult, meaning that the hike can be undertaken by anyone in good physical shape who has allowed for time to acclimatize in Huaraz.
With this idea in mind we will have some extra days in the area visiting pre-Inca sites and walking around this beautiful place.

Accommodation and transfers from Lima, pre- and post-accommodation and optional activities in Huaraz can be booked through your agent or the Latitud Sur office.

You can link this trip with all our tours in Perú, also with tailored itineraries visiting Lima, Titicaca Lake, Nazca and Arequipa.

From the Taullipampa camp site you can see the spectacular summits of the Taulliraju (one of the most difficult to climb -about 21 days), the Rinrijirca, the Quitaraju the Pumapampa, Paria y Artesonraju. The famous Alpamayo summit can be seen if you split-up your second day to make a little side trek to the North.

This day is the longest of the entire trek. We will walk for seven hours, going up to the Punta Unión, the highest point at 4.750 m. (from there the view of the summits of La Cordillera Blanca is wonderful) and then going down into another valley, which seems warmer and more humid with different vegetation.
