Welcome to our website. We want to invite you to visit Córdoba, an enchanting university town, full of life and young people. It has the luxuries of a big city with the friendly atmosphere and accessibility of a small town. Its lovely historic centre is also a big walking area. The city is half hour away from the mountains, great place for exploring and adventure activities. At evening you can enjoy the very famous dinners at the hostel before going to party in the many pubs and night clubs located in the area. Come and experience Córdoba and Tango Hostel!
     
 
   

We are located 9 blocks far from the Main Square, 7 blocks from the pedestrian downtown, 4 blocks from the main green Park, 7 blocks from the Mini Bus station (buses to Sierras hills area) and 10 blocks far from the Bus Station.

A taxi from the Bus Station takes less than 10 minutes and costs 3 pesos (1 dolar).

A taxi from the Airport takes 25 minutes and costs 25 pesos aprox. There are also buses to downtown.

Our area is called Nueva Córdoba. Because it is so close to the University thousands of students are living here. Plenty of restaurants, shops, bars, pubs and night clubs, Nueva Córdoba is 24 hs alive and completely safe.

During the weekends the Handicrafts and Atiques Market takes palce here (3 blocks away form the Hostel), making a great plan for your time in the city.

Córdoba Hills

Cordoba western side is an area plentyl of beautiful hills, coloured valleys and small picturesque towns, with a peaceful way of life. You can take a bus to visit them or enjoy with us the different cultural and adventure activities that we organize with our Travel agency Latitud Sur.

You can go for trekking to Quebrada del Condorito National Park, a 800 m deep canyon where more than 200 condors live and fly.
Or walk to natural water falls and swimming pools. Every SAT and SUN we explore different places in the hills, having awesome views, watching several birds and enjoying the rivers.
Or practice Rock-climbing In Los Gigantes or La Ola, Sierras Grandes, two of the best places in Argentina. You can spend the complete day climbing or take a course 2 to 4 days, camping in the area.
There are also great possibilities for Horseback riding In Sierras Chicas area, a complete day riding inside beautiful mountains, crossing streams and enjoying the quietness of an old farm.
You also can take POLO lessons, with experts instructors at a very cheap price.
Mountain bike In Villa General Belgrano, following hilly paths is a great option.
Paragliding in la Cumbre is a awesome activitie too. This is one of the best places in Argentina, with amazing views, flying in tandem during 20 to 40 minutes.
If you enjoy adreline, so Sky diving in Alta Gracia or Córdoba City is something you have to do. You will never forget this experience. After a 20 minutes flight you will jump in tandem from 2600 m aprox.

If you prefer just explore the hills, there are many places to visit:: Capilla del Monte: A charming little town in Punilla Valley, next to Uritorco Hill, the most mystical place in Córdoba. The locals say that they usually see UFOs.
La Cumbrecita: A small village near the top of the highest mountains, inside a beautiful forest. An ecological pedestrian town, with crystal streams and water falls. The best place in Córdoba for walking.
Villa General Belgrano: This beautiful village joins argentine and german cultures in a delightful combination.
Mina Clavero: a traditional town with big clear rivers and several places to visit nearby, like Rocsen Museum (incredible private collection)
Alta Gracia: a quiet town where you can visit an old jesuitic farm and the Che Guevara museum, in the house where he lived as a child.
Jesuitical Farms: You can take a organized tour to visit the imposing buildings, churches and lands of the Estancias, made by the Jesuits during the colonial times, to protect and teach to the aborigines and for producing food, wines, furniture, and more.

Córdoba City Activities
Latitud Sur & Tango Hostel WALKING CITY TOUR.
Best itinerary to learn Cordoba’s History and Culture. We visit the Cabildo, the Cathedral and the main square, La Cañada stream, the City Hall, the Jesuitical complex, the theatre and Barrio Nueva Córdoba (nowadays the The student’s place, rich residential area in 1900). 5 pm starting in Tango, ask for the next departure.

¨Paseo de las Artes¨HANDICRAFTS FAIR
One of the best in Argentina, with all kinds of materials and designs... and incredibly cheap prices. Also music and theatre shows, art expositions and other cultural activities. Saturdays & Sundays, from 5 pm to 10 pm. Achaval Rodriguez and Belgrano streets. No entrance fee.

ANTIQUE MARKET
In the traditional Barrio Guemes, surrounding Paseo de las Artes Fair, a market with antique furniture, coins, etc. Best time to visit is on Saturday and Sunday, from 5 to 10 pm. Free entrance.

TANGO SHOW and LESSONS
There are several, but we recommend the one at the famous Tanguería El Arrabal (show & dinner, 11 pm). Also Tango and Salsa lessons from 8 pm, $5, in Belgrano and Fructuoso Rivera corner. The show at El Cabildo is also good, every Friday starting at 9:30 pm. You can take lessons for $5.

CINE CLUB. A nice place to see good movies at $1,50 only.

JESUIT COMPLEX & ANCIENT UNIVERSITY
An imposing group of buildings made by the jesuits, a religious order sited here during the XVII century: the oldest University in Argentina, the oldest church still preserved, with aborigine art; Montserrat college and the Museum of the University are part of the complex. Open Tue to Sun 9 am to 1 pm and 5 pm to 8 pm. Guided tour at 10, 11 am, and 5, 6 pm. $3.

THE HISTORICAL CABILDO & CATHEDRAL
Within the pedestrian area, the foundational buildings have been preserved in Córdoba. There you can visit the Cabildo (ancient colonial institution), the Main Square and the old Cathedral. Free.

Marquéz de Sobremonte HISTORIC MUSEUM
The most complete museum about the colonial History, inside an old Spanish house. R de Santa Fe and Ituzaingó Street. Open From Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 2 pm $1.

The CARAFFA MUSEUM OF FINE ART
Its paintings and sculptures are part of one of the best
collections in Argentina. It is located inside a beautiful and ancient
building, surrounded by Sarmiento Park, in front of Plaza España.
Tuesday to Sundays from 11 am to 7 pm. Free entrance.

ANTHROPOLOGY MUSEUM
A good possibility to know about aborigines and ancient cultures
of Argentina and Córdoba. In 174 Irigoyen Street. Tuesday to
Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm / 2 to 6 pm / Sunday 4 a 7 pm.

SARMIENTO PARK A big green park, 100 h, with bars and entertainment places. A peaceful place to enjoy the sun, walking or running.
